José Cisneros: A Colorful World in Black and White
Born in Mexico in 1910, artist, illustrator, and historian José Cisneros left an enduring legacy to Texas and his adopted country. This exhibition comprises a representation of his home studio and artwork, including personal sketches, illustrations from history texts, numerous publications, calligraphy, and glasswork. Go West Said a Small Voice: Gustave Baumann and Dreams of New Mexico
Gustave Baumann’s 1918 move to New Mexico dramatically changed his aesthetic. This exhibition explores Baumann’s iconic landscapes and his works influenced by the mission churches and Native pueblo cultures. It also includes works by colleagues such as Marsden Hartley, Ansel Adams, and Gene Kloss, as well as contemporary artists who represent cultures that inspired him. A Place in Clay
Jemez Pueblo potter Kathleen Wall — 2020 – 2021 Native Treasures Living Treasure — moves seamlessly between clay sculptures and acrylic paintings, engaging with and exploring her high-desert surroundings. Away From Home: American Indian Boarding School Stories
