The country-rock band’s second single off its forthcoming album spins a list of universal “likes” into a good-time song.
The country-rock band Nashvillains — consisting of hit singer-songwriters Troy Johnson, Brett Boyett, and Scott Lindsey — are following up the soft release of their song “Tumbling Down” with the new single “Who Don’t.”
And C&I is pleased to premiere it exclusively here.
The forthcoming single is produced by hit songwriter, composer, and producer Steve Dorff, and is co-written by Dorff’s son, the late Andrew Dorff; Old Dominion’s Brad Tursi; and Tree Vibez Music writer Corey Crowder.
When the band went into the studio to record their forthcoming debut album, Steve Dorff brought the special song, which was one from his son’s long list of unreleased material following his untimely passing in 2016. Andrew’s legacy, Steve says, is in his songs. Andrew had penned tunes for Blake Shelton and Kenny Chesney, among others, and Steve felt that the “hooky” “Who Don’t” could be a hit with the right artist.
“He presented it to us, and there was no question as to whether we would want to record it and put it on the album,” says Boyett. “This is the only song on the album that Nashvillains as a band didn’t write, but we are honored to have been chosen by him to record it.”
Nashvillains band members gave us a deeper look into the song.
What's fun/cool/moving about it
“’Who Don’t’ is a positive song about things that everyone likes: jokes we laugh a little too hard at, afterparties with friends, ice cold beer, floating on boats, and just living life. We love the party energy that the song evokes. It has rock elements mixed with country overtones and lyrics everyone will want to sing to on a good day. We love it!”
— Troy Johnson
Favorite lyrics in the song
“It’s cool, cuz it’s cool / And never gets old, cuz good shit don’t go out of style.”
“This is the line that lends itself to be edgy enough for us as a band to record it, and it’s true, too — good things never go out of style!”
— Scott Lindsey
Forthcoming
“We recently shot a music video for ‘Who Don’t,’ which was really fun to film and should be rolling out in the upcoming weeks. We also have new content and an acoustic performance we plan to share through our various social platforms, so be on the lookout! We are really excited about all the things we have coming down the pike for the band. We’re always creating, and we enjoy engaging with all of our fans.”
— Brett Boyett
