Angelina Jolie stars as a smokejumper determined to protect a young boy stalked by killers during a raging forest fire.
Taylor Sheridan — writer-director of Wind River, co-creator of Yellowstone, and C&I cover guy — and Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie (pictured above) are the dynamic duo behind Those Who Wish Me Dead, the action-adventure drama due May 14 in theaters and on HBO Max.

What’s it all about? According to the Warner Bros. press office:
“Jolie stars as Hannah, a smokejumper still reeling from the loss of three lives she failed to save from a fire. She takes a sort of comfort in the pain she inflicts on herself, whether it’s a showy stunt that knocks her on her ass or the self-imposed solitary confinement of her watchtower high above the Montana wilderness. However, when Connor [co-star Finn Little] arrives in her remote territory — a skittish young boy who appears bloodied and traumatized — they must set out together to cross the miles of thick forest. Braving deadly lightning storms that threaten even Hannah’s well-honed survival skills, they are unaware of the real dangers they face: two relentless killers hunting Connor from one direction, and a massive fiery blaze coming straight for them, quickly consuming everything in their path. Caught dead center between two evils, can Hannah keep them alive long enough to save Connor and ultimately set herself free?”
Sheridan directed Those Who Wish Me Dead from a screenplay he co-wrote with Michael Koryta (author of the novel on which the film is based) and Charles Leavitt. Other members of the cast include Nicholas Hoult, Aidan Gillen, Medina Senghore, Tyler Perry, Jake Weber, and Jon Bernthal.
And if you listen closely during this attention-grabbing trailer, you will hear The Man in Black himself, Johnny Cash, underscoring the action with what has become, long after his death, one of his signature songs.
