On that front, Lampe, Missouri’s 10,000-acre natural conservation and wildlife destination, Dogwood Canyon Nature Park, has got you covered. Its magnificent winter bald eagle-watching season really gets into gear January 10, with “National Save the Eagles Day.”
With narrow canyon walls and a trout-filled stream, Dogwood Canyon, which is just outside of country-entertainment mecca Branson, Missouri, is a winter habitat for migrating bald eagles each year. It’s even easier to spot the birds with Dogwood Canyon’s eagle-watching tours, held every Saturday and Sunday through the winter migration season, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. No hiking required. The tours take place on quiet electric shuttles.
On January 9 and 16, in celebration of “National Save the Eagles Day,” and the winter migration season, Dogwood Canyon is offering free educational “Eagles of America” talks with park admission, along with up-close encounters with bald and golden eagles. The talks are part of a collaboration with Dickerson Park Zoo.

In addition to the eagle-watching activities, park guests can also hike, trout fish, horseback ride, and enjoy other wildlife tours and critter encounters. Hungry? Dogwood Canyon’s own Mill & Canyon Grill Restaurant overlooks Little Indian Creek and a 120-foot waterfall, which right now features feet-long icicles instead.
