The California singer-songwriter gives C&I an exclusive first listen to her latest song, “Buzzin’.”
On the heels of her album Time, a highly-emotional ode to her relationship with her mother, California singer-songwriter Amanda Kate is back with her latest single, “Buzzin’.”
With full-bodied guitar pickings and quick witted lyrics, “Buzzin’” brings back the whimsical and toe-tapping aspects of country music.
“I wrote ‘Buzzin’’ to just be playful and fun. My mom used to always joke around about being ‘buzzed’ because she had too much coffee but she loved the feeling because she would be so productive,” says Kate.
“I was on the phone with her one day and I told her ‘Mama I'm buzzin’ to the top, not giving up on this crazy dream no matter what the haters say about my music’ (laughs), and then immediately got off the phone and wrote this.”
“Being a country artist today has its challenges and one of them is the constant struggle to be relevant while still being creative and doing music that you feel is unique and fits your style. Radio loves the pop country right now, so it’s tough finding your lane as a traditional country artist. I love that my music has always stayed true to my country roots and my love for traditional country music. I love how playful this song turned out and completely captures my mood.”
