Feel good about your beauty routine with this Native-owned cosmetics brand with a focus on indigenous youth.
Jennifer Harper, founder of Cheekbone Beauty has pioneered her beauty brand with the preservation of indigenous culture in mind. From hiring indigenous youth to speaking native language, Harper is raising awareness for her people through makeup.
In order to champion their cause, Cheekbone Beauty donates to charities such as the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society, in order to impact change for indigenous youth. They have donated over 5,000 dollars since 2017. They are also working on a zero-waste initiative, aiming to eliminate all singe-use plastics while implementing biodegradable packaging and refill options for products.
As put in the company's own words: Sustainability focuses on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The concept of sustainability is composed of three pillars: economic, environmental, and social—also known informally as profits, planet, and people.
Harper and Cheekbone Beauty as a whole hope to contribute to the sustainability of the world around them and the culture within. Read on to view unique products that support their causes.
