The up-and-coming country artist debuts his latest single, “Workin’ on Me,” exclusively with C&I.
About the artist: Lucas Hoge made the career trek from his native Nebraska to Nashville, and from Christian music (fronting bands like Southern Cross and Xtreme Devotion) to country rock (showing reverence for “The Power of Garth” on his 2017 album, Dirty South). He has performed for the troops overseas, reunited service members with their animal companions, acted as a brand ambassador for Cabela’s, and hosted Animal Planet’s Last Chance Highway.
About the song: “Workin’ on Me” is Hoge’s latest single. Co-written with Kyle Rife and Jason Mizelle, the track deconstructs the feeling of falling in love. “‘Workin’ on Me’ is one of those songs that is full of visuals,” Hoge says. “When we were writing it you couldn’t help yourself getting transported right into that old smoke-filled bar with a neon sign.”
Why we like it: The perfect blend of rich and rugged bluesy vocals and traditional country sounds, “Workin’ on Me” showcases Hoge as the Michael Bublé of country.
