The award-winning songwriter collaborates with another bluegrass favorite, Junior Sisk, in the music video for Edwards’ song “Wanda Lou.”
Artist: Songwriter and world champion banjo player Ray Edwards
Song: “Wanda Lou” (included on A Golden Anniversary Celebration, released September 2018)
For fans of: Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice, Dicky Minor, Larry Richardson & Happy Smith, and the Stanley Brothers
What Edwards says about the track: “I’d like to say what an honor it was working with bluegrass icon Junior Sisk on this very special song. It was written for my wonderful wife, Wanda Lou Edwards, and I hand-picked who I felt were the very finest bluegrass singers and musicians in the business to join me on this recording. I’m extremely proud of my project A Golden Anniversary Celebration and to represent Pinecastle Records. They have supported and helped me bring my very best to the millions of bluegrass fans across the country.”
Why we like it: The fast-fingered, quick-witted traditional bluegrass song is a tribute to his wife — and who doesn’t love a classic love song.
The video: It’s one thing to get to witness a world champion banjo player like Edwards in his prime and it’s another to get to witness him alongside another legend like Junior Sisk.
