One of contemporary music’s biggest nights, there was no shortage of country winners.
Country music cleaned up at the 61st annual Grammy Awards.
Dolly Parton was named MusiCares Person of the Year just days earlier, and the legend was joined on the Grammy stage for an all-star tribute that featured Miley Cyrus, Little Big Town, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, and Katy Perry.
Kacey Musgraves was the other big story of the night, snagging wins in all four categories she was nominated in, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album.
Americana queen Brandi Carlile swept her categories, and Willie Nelson took home a shiny gramophone statue, too.
Oh, and since the movie A Star Is Born had a country music theme in the recent Bradley Cooper-Lady Gaga remake, we should add that the theme song, “Shallow,” took the awards for 2019’s Best Song Written for Visual Media and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
And while Gaga’s rendition of “Shallow” on the Grammy stage was decidedly not countrified, there was no shortage of boot-tapping and hat-tipping throughout the night.
Here’s the complete list of winners in the Country/Americana categories.
