Veterans were the stars of Wednesday’s Brooks & Dunn performance at RodeoHouston.
Each year, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo welcomes millions of visitors to enjoy its live rodeo and musical entertainment. On Wednesday at NRG Park, the rodeo honored men and women for their service in the U.S. military with Armed Forces Appreciation Day.
It was a sea of red, white, and blue as visitors dressed in patriotic colors crowded the stadium to show their support for current and past military members in attendance. Military members and their families enjoyed complimentary tickets to the night’s headlining concert by country favorites Brooks & Dunn.
Before the concert kicked off, Houston mayor Sylvester Turner, Houston rodeo president Joel Cowley, and Channel 2’s Bill Balleza joined forces for a special ceremony honoring members of the armed forces and their families.
The ceremony included inspirational speeches from Turner, Cowley, and Vietnam veteran Balleza; stirring music from Marine Band San Diego; and an emotional segment in which more than 500 men and women raised their right hands to take the U.S. Armed Forces Oath of Enlistment.
