The Texas cowboy heartthrob and country superstar celebrates sold-out Las Vegas shows with the release of a new track, “Código.”
Ahead of his scheduled sold-out Las Vegas shows, C&I November/December cover star George Strait is dropping a new track, “Código,” today.
A partner in and fan of Código tequila, Strait wrote the song with son Bubba and longtime collaborator Dean Dillon. Celebrating its namesake tequila, the song melds the sounds of southwest Mexico and southwest Texas.
The hit-in-the-making is the perfect accompaniment to a couple of tequila shots with friends.
“Código” is the first new music from Strait following 2015’s Cold Beer Conversation (his 29th studio album and 26th No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart) and 2016’s Strait Out of the Box: Part 2.
With its accordion and fiddle, the juke-joint tune transports listeners to carefree times when the tequila’s flowing: “A little sip and you’re ready to roll … I’m talkin’ ‘bout Código.”
Strait is currently working on new music due out in the new year [UPDATE: A few days after premiering the new song, reps for Strait confirmed that he will release a new album, Honky Tonk Time Machine, in early 2019]. In the meantime, we’re happy to get a sneak preview with “Código.” Get your musical shot below. Arriba!
