Raise your glass to warmer climes with these winter cocktails.
As temperatures drop in these winter months, Cowboys & Indians is looking toward warmer (or least temperate) spots across the West (and beyond) and their cocktails.
Desert Toddy
Courtesy 4 Saints, Kimpton Rowan Hotel, Palm Springs, California
¼ ounce fresh lemon juice
¼ ounce fresh orange juice
⅓ ounce honey syrup
1¼ ounces Beefeater gin
¾ oz. Amaro Montenegro
3 ounces Earl Grey tea
Orange peel, for garnish
Mix ingredients in a pre-warmed toddy glass. Twist orange peel over glass, rub interior part of the peel along the glass’ rim and garnish.
Cabo Marques Cider

Ground piloncillo (solid unrefined whole cane sugar), for frosting and rim
2 apple slices
Ice
4 ounces apple cider
1½ ounces of Jack Daniel’s
Cinnamon stick, for garnish
Frost (or dust rim of) glass with ground piloncillo on rim. Place apple slices, ice, apple cider, and Jack Daniel’s in a frosted glass. Mix ingredients with a bar spoon and decorate with the cinnamon stick.
Smoke in Your Rye (Dark)
Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, Maui, Hawaii
1 ounce Whistle Pig Rye
1 ounce Bozal Mezcal
1 ounce sweet vermouth
½ ounce Averna Amaro
Two drops habanero bitters
Two drops chocolate bitters
Orange zest, for garnish
Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Shake and pour into a glass. Garnish with orange zest.
