Celebrity chef Tim Love lets us in on some of his most cherished holiday traditions, favorite Christmas memories, and the first song on his holiday playlist.
It wouldn’t be the holidays without … my family.
Favorite Christmas present I’ve ever gotten … was a new bike when I was in first grade. We couldn’t afford it, so my mom got me a basketball goal. When I opened it, it was the bike I wanted! We tried to return it, and Sears told us just to keep it. “Clearly God wanted you to have that bike,” they said. It was amazing!
Best gift I’ve ever given … I like giving family gifts. There are about 30 to 40 members of my immediate family who come to my house for Christmas every year, and I love making something fun every year for them … T-shirts or a hat.
Most wonderful Christmas memory … There are too many memories to list, but I always love having all my brothers and sisters together and celebrating, breaking bread, and enjoying cocktails.
For our holiday meal, I especially look forward to … I always cook Christmas dinner, which has been all kinds of things! I especially like it, though when my mom cooks “Shit on a Shingle” first thing in the morning for Emilie, myself, and my kids.
My family’s most cherished holiday traditions are … We now have the LOVE Olympics every year, and it’s super competitive — six rounds of competitions. Ping pong, pool, shuffleboard, claw maw, and potato races, just to name a few. We have trophies and everything. It’s definitely a THING!
The first song I put on my holiday playlist is ... “White Christmas.”
Best place to spend the holidays … at my house!
Good organization for giving back … We always donate about 1,500 Thanksgiving dinners to the Tarrant Area Food Bank every year! I love delivering all the turkeys and boxes and boxes of sides every year!
My greatest wish for the new year ahead is … My wish is that people just work hard, mind their own business and JUST BE NICE TO EACH OTHER! We do that, and lots and lots of other great things will come from that.
