Past cover star Pratt and up-and-coming country sensation Pardi are a big part of a new Super Bowl commercial.
Two of C&I’s favorite fellas have lent their talents to one of the big-money Super Bowl ads scheduled to air during the game on Sunday. Chris Pratt — who graced C&I’s cover back in October 2016 with his Magnificent Seven castmates — is hamming it up in the new Michelob Ultra spot, both tending to his fitness regime and professing his love of low-calorie beer. The song he and others (including golf sensation Brooks Koepka and sufer Kelly Slater) are singing to is a re-recording of Tom T. Hall’s anthem “I Like Beer.” While California country singer Jon Pardi doesn’t appear in the spot (video below), he’s responsible for the new recording of the song.
And even though we don’t normally make a habit of sharing silly commercials with you, this is an opportunity to hip you to Pardi’s music, if you don’t already know it. He’s been on a steady climb for a few years now, offering up shots of ’90s-style traditional twang infused with more modern lyrical concerns. As an artist he’s both thoughtful and fun, and refreshingly humble. We saw that humility recently in his CMA speech when he accepted the New Artist of the Year award.
