Rising country star Drake White performs a cover of Tracy Lawrence’s “Time Marches On,” backstage at the Grand Ole Opry.
A native of Hokes Bluff, Alabama, up-and-coming musician Drake White has been writing and collecting songs since he was 14. In August 2016, he released his first album, Spark, which debuted at No. 4 on the Top Country Albums chart.
During a recent stop in Nashville, White participated in Radio Replay, a web series produced by the Grand Ole Opry that has artists perform a song they heard on the radio en route to their Opry performance.
White, who Billboard called “one of the most expressive and soulful artists in the country format,” had literally just heard “Time Marches On,” written by Bobby Braddock and originally performed by country great Tracy Lawrence. Lawrence sang it in honor of his grandmother, and White revealed the song was one of his own grandmother’s favorites.
