A special song for dads and granddads everywhere, Scotty McCreery wrote “Five More Minutes” for his grandfather and performs it here live at the Grand Ole Opry.
Season 10 American Idol winner Scotty McCreery has been fulfilling his predicted success with three hit albums — Clear as Day, Christmas With Scotty McCreery, and See You Tonight — and two new tracks, “Southern Belle” and “Five More Minutes.”
Fresh from his Idol win, McCreery released his debut album, Clear as Day (2011), an instant triumph with two hit singles. The first, “I Love You This Big,” had already won the hearts of his Idol fans when he performed it on the show and went on to win over country music listeners.
The track was quickly followed up with the tune “The Trouble With Girls,” which would later solidify McCreery’s freshman album as certified platinum in the United States and earn him Artist of the Year at the American Country Awards and Best New Artist at the Academy of Country Music Awards. It wasn’t long before the North Carolina native put out two more albums.
Right in time for Christmas 2012, McCreery released Christmas With Scotty McCreery. His renditions of classic holiday songs like “Let It Snow” and “Winter Wonderland” topped the Holiday Albums charts and reached No. 2 on the Top Country Albums charts. It was certified gold later that year.
His third album, See You Tonight (2013), followed close behind and spawned two singles, “See You Tonight” and “Feelin’ It.” The album reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and won McCreery Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the American Country Awards.
Now McCreery is ready to hit the studio again, releasing a new track off what we hope will be a forthcoming fourth album.
In honor of Father’s Day, watch McCreery’s moving Grand Ole Opry performance of his newest single, “Five More Minutes,” a track he wrote about his grandfather.
