Crowder performs “Run Devil Run” live at the Ryman Auditorium.
Before Crowder was Crowder, the contemporary Christian folktronica musician was known as David Wallace Crowder. Formerly the lead singer of the disbanded David Crowder Band, the famously bearded Texas native is also known as a founder of University Baptist Church in Waco, where his music was instrumental in reaching students at Baylor University.
After his church band released a CD, the nascent David Crowder Band began reaching a wider audience. Crowder began fronting a solo career in 2012. The multi-instrumentalist’s first solo studio album, Neon Steeple, released in 2014, was a major hit in the Christian genre. The first single off the album, “I Am,” rose to the No. 3 spot on the Hot Christian Songs chart. His 2016 album, American Prodigal, climbed to No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and is Crowder’s first solo album to make No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Albums.
Recently, Crowder made a stop at the Grand Ole Opry to perform his newest single from American Prodigal. Check out the video of “Run Devil Run” to see his high-spirited performance of his catchy new tune.
