Kith Urban releases the music video for his new single, “The Fighter,” featuring Carrie Underwood from his Grammy-nominated album Ripcord.
Kith Urban’s “The Fighter,” featuring Carrie Underwood, is the fifth single from his Grammy-nominated album Ripcord. “The Fighter” is following on the heels of six consecutive No.1 singles, including “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” which received two Grammy Award nominations for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song.
With the help of seven-time Grammy-award winner Carrie Underwood, “The Fighter” is sure to be a hit.
“Writing ‘The Fighter’ came pretty quickly,” Urban says in a press release. “I could hear most of the song already in my head on the ride to the studio that day, where busbee and I were already working. I was thinking about how long it’d been since I heard a song with a guy and girl actually speaking back and forth to each other. ... It comes from a very real place. ... It’s a song about helping to heal and protect someone you love. It’s a song about reassurance that you'll always be there to take the blows the world can throw. Carrie and I had sung together before and I thought our voices blended really well — so she was unquestionably the right choice. It was such a relief that she wanted to do it.”
For her part, Underwood was psyched, too: “I loved the song when I first heard it and was excited to work with Keith on new music.”
