George Strait Features New Music on “Strait Out of the Box: Part Two”

George Strait’s new Walmart exclusive special edition album Strait Out of the Box: Part 2 covers 20 years of his career, from 1996 to 2016. The three-disc, 56-track collection boasts 36 hit singles, including 26 No. 1 songs, 18 choice album cuts, and, most excitingly, two brand new songs. The track list was picked by the country music icon himself.

“Going back through all the songs for this box set does bring back a lot of old memories,” Strait says in a press release. “A lot of them we considered for radio singles and for whatever reason, we just picked something else. It was not that hard to pick them after I looked through them because there are just so many that are my favorites.”

“Kicked Outta Country,” co-written by Strait and Jamey Johnson, and “You Gotta Go Through Hell,” co-written by Strait, Bubba Strait, and Dean Dillon, are the two new songs on the album. They’re the first new recordings since Strait released his surprise Cold Beer Conversation album last year.

The album is available on November 18, but you can pre-order it here along with merchandise, including a silver-plated belt buckle identical to the one featured on the collection’s cover. The limited edition buckle arrives in an autographed craft wooden box suitable for display.

Updated November 15: In celebration of his CD's release, the country music star is heading back home to Texas for a special performance release show Wednesday, November 16. Strait and his Ace in the Hole Band will put on their dance shoes to perform in the intimate setting of a historic Texas dancehall for what is sure to be a memorable night. Though tickets are not available for purchase to the public, fans can live-stream the event Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m. Central on the Wrangler Network.
