The 3:10 to Yuma star will mount up for a new western.
Academy Award winner Christian Bale will be getting back in the saddle again — nine years after he appeared opposite Russell Crowe in James Mangold’s 3:10 to Yuma — for a new western.
According to Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter, Bale has signed on to make Hostiles with director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart), with whom he previously collaborated on the 2013 drama Out of the Furnace.
The official plot synopsis: “Set in 1892, Hostiles tells the story of a legendary Army captain who, after stern resistance, begrudgingly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family back to tribal lands. Making the harrowing and perilous journey from an isolated Army outpost in New Mexico to the grasslands of Montana, the former rivals encounter a young widow whose family was murdered on the plains. Together, they must join forces to overcome the punishing landscape and hostile Comanche tribes that they encounter along the way.”
Shooting is tentatively set to begin in July.
