The King of Country Music adds more dates to his Las Vegas Arena schedule.
George Strait is back, and Las Vegas has got him.
And now Sin City has him for two more shows.
When The King of Country Music announced last week that he would performing select dates at the Las Vegas Arena in 2016, the demand from fans for tickets was nothing short of extraordinary. So Strait — who originally signed on to perform April 22 and 23 and September 9 and 10 — announced Tuesday that he would be adding December 2 and 3 to the 2016 schedule.
“I said all along I wasn’t going to tour anymore,” Strait said, “but I also said that I wasn’t retiring by any means and I still wanted to do some dates.
“I’m very excited to be coming back out and playing for the fans out there. I’m looking forward to it so much, singing those songs that I love so much and haven’t done in a while. I’m really, really looking forward to being able to play in the new Las Vegas Arena. I hear it’s just unbelievable. I can’t wait.”
Neither can Rick Arpin, senior vice president of entertainment and development for MGM Resorts International. “We always knew George was the King of Country,” Arpin said, ”but the unprecedented fan reaction following last week’s announcement has been incredible.
“It is exciting to be able to offer fans worldwide two additional opportunities to see this exclusive engagement during the National Finals Rodeo. These performances will add to the star power of the Las Vegas Arena’s opening season.”
