Fort Worth, Texas-based Green River Ordinance has offered Cowboys & Indians the distinction of premiering the Sam Ryan-directed music video for “Red Fire Night.”
The fiddle- and harmonica-driven single comes from the band’s forthcoming Fifteen, due out from brand-new label Residence Music on January 22, 2016. But if you can’t wait till then, the song is one of four tracks you can receive as an instant download when pre-ordering the album. The band offers elements of pop, country, folk, and rock, and “Red Fire Night” epitomizes their radio-friendly sound.
“ ‘Red Fire Night’ was written while we were holed up in a cabin on the Caney Fork River in Tennessee,” says multi-instrumentalist Jamey Ice. “It was inspired by snapshot images of what growing up in Texas was like for us, and the memories of good friends all piling in a Bronco to drive to the middle of nowhere. Those memories have a sense of freedom that we felt important for this song to possess, as well as strong forward motion and energy musically. We also referenced some personal experiences such as the famous Czech Stop gas station off of Interstate 35 that we have stopped at since high school on road trips to Austin. From a creation standpoint, this song is probably one of the first ones written for Fifteen. The chorus was written immediately, but over time we had to rewrite a good portion of the verses to better capture the story and spirit that ‘Red Fire Night’ represents.”
The song premiered on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’s official Tumblr page, and now you can check out the official music video.
