The Searchers, True Grit and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon are among the features scheduled for the four-day event.
Take note, pilgrims: The John Wayne Film Festival returns to Dallas Sept. 24-27, offering a rare opportunity to see some of The Duke’s classic films on the big screen.
Movies will be presented at the Highland Park Village Theatre and LOOK Cinemas during the four-day event, with Wayne family members Patrick Wayne, Melinda Wayne-Munoz, Ethan Wayne, Marisa Wayne, and Anita Swift expected to be in attendance at many of the screenings.
The schedule includes nine westerns (Fort Apache, How the West Was Won, True Grit, Red River, Rooster Cogburn, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, The Cowboys, The Shootist, and The Searchers), three World War II adventures (Flying Leathernecks, In Harm’s Way, and The Sea Chase) and the historical drama The Barbarian and the Geisha.
Other festival activities include a VIP dinner, auctions of Wayne memorabilia, and an “art walk” exhibit of photos of Hollywood luminaries from the John R. Hamilton collection. Proceeds from all events will go to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.
