DESCRIPTION

Though best known for his pastoral Midwest scenes and Southwest images, the German carver and colorist made 12 color woodcuts depicting California’s coastline, forests, and architecture. This exhibition of approximately 35 works includes graphite, tempera, and gouache studies; woodcuts; and progressive proofs, as well as Baumann’s chosen printing press, the Midget Reliance.
