New Boots: Pretty As A Peacock
Handmade and -painted by Mexican craftsmen, the Talavera Hombre boots ($1,595) are a custom design by Texas painter and leather artist Carrie Cameron. The artist was so inspired by the crafts, culture, and landscapes of central Mexico that she moved south of the border to create her Cock of the Walk Designs. San Miguel de Allende — a haven for artists just southeast of León, one of the leather capitals of the world — proved the perfect place for Cameron to conceptualize her collection of custom boots, which has since grown to include shoes, handbags, and accessories. The styles draw on regional art as well as Cameron’s own works, including her original oil painting of a peacock that served as the inspiration for her first boot design and the company’s name. With the collection taking flight, Cameron travels between her home in San Miguel de Allende and her showroom in Dallas, where you can now try on a pair of Cock of the Walk custom boots at Pinto Ranch. 972.989.8573, www.cockofthewalkdesigns.com; 800.393.8001, www.pintoranch.com
