The upcoming album Cover Stories: Brandi Carlile Celebrates 10 Years of The Story features an all-star lineup of musicians to benefit the charity War Child.

Cover Stories: Brandi Carlile Celebrates 10 Years of The Story will be composed of newly recorded versions of all 14 songs from Carlile’s breakthrough album The Story, released in 2007.  The album’s lineup of superstars lending their voices to the album include Adele, Pearl Jam, The Avett Brothers, Kris Kristofferson, Dolly Parton, and Margo Price; former President Barack Obama will provide a foreword. Other artists making an appearance include Chris Stapleton, who lends his guitar skills to Kris Kristofferson’s take on “Turpentine”; and Miranda Lambert providing backup to Anderson East’s “Josephine.”

Dave Cobb produced tracks by Kristofferson, Parton, and Price, while Patrick Carney of the Black Keys produced Ruby Amanfu. Carlile and longtime bandmates The Twins (Tim and Phil Hanseroth) produced the Secret Sisters and TORRES.

Recently, Pitchfork gave a sneak peek of the album with the release of Pearl Jam’s take on the penultimate track, “Again Today.” With Carlile providing backup vocals, Pearl Jam puts their high-octane spin on the track, fusing the catharsis and emotion of Carlile’s original with their signature raw power.

The album goes on sale May 5, with all proceeds benefitting War Child, a charity that provides assistance to children in areas experiencing conflict and the aftermath of conflict. In celebration of the release, Brandi Carlile is hosting a nine-date tour on which she’ll perform The Story in its entirety.
