Cowboys & Indians, the premiere magazine of the American West, seeks a savvy digital editor to join its historic and growing brand. This is a remote position for an innovative, organized, and detail-oriented editor with at least two years digital editorial experience at a publication or media outlet. They should be comfortable with analytics, audience engagement, and content marketing strategies as well as proficient in writing for the web, crafting social content, packaging stories for different platforms using a variety of applications, and measuring performance.
Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
• Work proactively with the digital and editorial staff to develop and package content across all platforms using performance-based insights
• Assign, edit, produce, and shepherd digital content
• Write digital articles, news stories, and audience-driven content
• Copyedit and proofread digital content across all platforms
• Manage campaigns for and develop copy across all platforms for sponsored content and digital marketing materials
• Work within WordPress to regularly refresh cowboysindians.com, update articles, and manage SEO
• Build and curate templates for newsletter campaigns
• Help coordinate production schedules for all digital platforms
• Monitor digital performance across all platforms
• Send weekly reports or as needed on content performance for all platforms, campaigns, and sponsored content
• Produce media assets for digital content including videos for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok; and provide embed links for website post production
Required Qualifications:
• Experience working with Google Analytics 4, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, and Sprinklr
• Experience with creative design and editing programs including Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, and Apple Final Cut Pro
• Experience implementing SEO strategies and best practices
• Proficiency with WordPress and other CMS tools, including Campaign Monitor and MailChimp
• Proficiency in Mac OS, MS Office, Asana, WordPress, and DropBox
• Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, etc.)
• Outstanding written and verbal communication
• Excellent proofreading skills and working knowledge of AP Style
• Organization, assertiveness, and comfort with constant deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and with a team under minimal supervision
• BA in Journalism, English, or other relevant field
• At least 2 years of experience at a publication or media outlet
