They couldn’t tell us much about the plot of Season 5B, but they spoke from the heart anyway.
Cole Houser sounded amused and appreciative when he heard the plug for his Free Rein coffee brand. Kelly Reilly appeared pleased that some people remember her performances in such notable films as Flight and Calvary.
But both actors were primed to be politely evasive while talking about their characters — Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton — and what the future holds for the couple in what’s billed as the “final cycle” of Yellowstone episodes.
It was obvious they had gotten their usual marching orders from producer Taylor Sheridan — hype the show, hide the details — before they sat down for a virtual press junket earlirer this week to promote the Nov. 10 kickoff for the show’s long-awaited Season 5B. So we didn’t bother with questions we knew they would never answer — like, “Hey, will Kevin Costner’s John Dutton make a surprise appearance in the show’s finale?” — and instead queried them about their feelings, mixed or otherwise, regarding the (alleged) end of the show, and being part of a genuine, 24-karat entertainment phenomenon.
