Artists as diverse as Beyoncé, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, and Luke Combs are among the nominees for the awards show airing Sept. 26 on NBC.
The people have spoken: Despite the recent “snub” by CMA, Beyoncé really is a country music artist. Just like Kacey Musgraves, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Cody Johnson, Shaboozey and Zach Bryant, the other performers represented in the Album of the Year category for the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards.
Set to air live on NBC at 8 pm ET Thursday, Sept. 26, from Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, this particular awards show truly has been driven by popular acclimation. The intention is to honor the biggest names in country music — as chosen entirely by fans.
According to NBC, the show, hosted by country/pop superstar Shania Twain, “will lean into the rich history and connection between country music and the Grand Ole Opry House with showstopping musical performances, genre-bending collaborations, heartfelt tributes to country legends and surprise moments.”
“Country has some of the most passionate fans in music and us artists are so lucky to be supported in doing what we love,” Twain said in a prepared statement. “I am honored to host an award show that celebrates these awesome fans. Get ready for an unforgettable show with lots of big hair, glamour, rhinestones, hats, boots and incredible performances. Giddy Up!”
Among the stellar guests slated to perform during the 2004 PCCA show: Miranda Lambert (who will receive a special Country Icon award), Kane Brown, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Lady A, Parker McCollum, Brad Paisley, mgk, and The War And Treaty.
But wait, there’s more: Carly Pearce, Dan + Shay, Little Big Town, Nate Bargatze, Ashley Cooke, Bailey Zimmerman, Chase Rice, Cody Rhodes, Dasha, Dylan Dreyer, Matt Rife, Orville Peck, Parker McCollum, Priscilla Block, Scotty McCreery, Shaboozey, and Tanner Adell will present awards and performances throughout the night.
Kane Brown will receive the Country Champion Award — an award bestowed last year to Wynonna Judd — during the NBC telecast.
“Since the beginning of his career, Kane Brown has ensured that his legacy will extend beyond music,” said Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “His dedication to empowering and supporting younger generations is nothing short of inspiring, and we’re thrilled to honor him with the Country Champion Award.”
