But there is still no word about whether he will return to Yellowstone.
Looks like Horizon: An American Saga isn’t the only thing keeping Kevin Costner busy these days. When he isn’t making the print, digital and broadcast rounds to promote the first film in his proposed four-part Western epic, which opens June 28 in theaters and drive-ins everywhere, he’s fulfilling his obligations as celebrity brand partner with Mountain Brand Coffee Roasters.

The first fruit of their collaboration, Costner’s “Horizon Blend” coffee, appeared in December. It’s described as a robust “dark roast, like all good ‘cowboy coffee,’ but taken to the next level” with flavors “that invoke campfires and open horizons.”
"Alongside the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters team,” Costner says, “we embarked on a journey of exploration, experimenting with various concepts. They were able to help guide me through the process where my opinion was valued and incorporated. It was the best outcome I could have imagined.”
According to Green Mountain Roasters, Costner worked directly with their team “to craft a layered and complex flavor profile grounded in his personal coffee taste. Together, Costner and the brand wanted to create a coffee that was bold and balanced, offering a unique and appealing flavor that caters to a wide range of coffee lovers. In addition, the coffee needed to be able to serve as a base of Costner's favorite drink, a Café Mocha. The resulting variety — Horizon Blend by Kevin Costner — has a smooth yet robust flavor profile, alive with earthy, smoky flavors.”
“Kevin is an icon both on-and-off the screen,” said Becky Opdyke, senior vice-president for coffee marketing at Keurig Dr Pepper. “Whether he is creating and sharing stories through film and television or working on environmental conservation, he goes all in on his passions. We are thrilled to partner with him and to co-create a blend that celebrates a dedication to our crafts.”
On Monday, Costner and Green Mountain Roasters announced their second coffee brand, Mountainside Mocha Latte. “I don’t always drink my coffee black,” Costner told People Magazine. “So, I wanted to just advance it to something I like because I really like having one in the morning.”
Actually, Costner admitted, he was “never much of a coffee drinker” until about 15 years ago. “I just started really making it a part of my morning,” he says. “And then it came about that this was an opportunity. I said, ‘Well, I’d like to make my own kind of drink.’ So that's how it came down.” And while he wasn’t too controlling over the name and marketing of the brew, he was very particular about how it would taste. “I said, ‘I want some chocolate in this thing.’ I said, ‘I’m going to decide how much.’”
Costner has said he’s always preferred drinking flavored coffee — leading the Green Mountain Coffee folks to dub him a “cowboy with a sweet tooth.” In a press release for the new blend, Costner agrees that he is a “lover of all sweets.”

To celebrate their partnership with Costner, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is donating $100,000 to Root Capital, a nonprofit that works in some of the world’s most economically and environmentally vulnerable places. The organization is dedicated to providing credit and capacity building to small and growing agricultural businesses around the world to build a more prosperous, inclusive, and resilient future for rural communities.
By the way: Costner isn’t the only veteran of Yellowstone involved with a caffeinated sideline these days. As C&I contributing editor Hunter Hauk reported in March, series co-creator and executive producer Taylor Sheridan partnered with the established Louisiana brand Community Coffee to launch Bosque Ranch Craft Coffee in June 2023. More recently, Cole Hauser — a.k.a. Rip Wheeler — and his partners made Free Rein available in October after repurposing the local San Angelo, Texas, institution Longhorn Coffee. And long before either of these blends appeared, there was Yellowstone Coffee. Gabriel “Gator” Guilbeau, the show’s craft services director (and the Dutton family’s on-screen chef), partnered with Paramount to release the coffee, in addition to a line of steak rubs.
And speaking of Yellowstone: Sorry, but there’s still word about when, or if, Costner might appear in the series’ final cycle of Season 5 episodes, now shooting in Montana. But there’s still some hope: Over the weekend, on CBS Sunday Morning, he answered the inevitable question by stating: “If I like the story, where it was going, I would go back.” Stay tuned for further developments.
