Take Six: Once again, we are celebrating and elevating films, filmmakers, and film performances of special interest to C&I readers with the C&I Movie Awards. Or as we like to call them — The Cowboys.
There are ten 2022 titles vying in the Best Picture category for an award that in previous years has gone to such memorable movies as Wind River, Let Him Go, 12 Mighty Orphans, Badland, and The Divide.
For the third straight year, we are honoring a Best Documentary. That’s the category where you’ll find outstanding nonfiction features that focus on the comeback of a country icon (The Return of Tanya Tucker — Featuring Brandi Carlile), the anniversary of a still-relevant movie comedy showcasing, among others, Dolly Parton (Still Working 9 to 5), the enduring popularity and mystery of a pop music classic (The Day the Music Died: The Story of Don McLean’s American Pie), the acclaimed collaboration of Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram and Jon Randall (The Marfa Tapes), and the American journey of a country music duo from Southern Africa (Dusty & Stones).
Of course, this wouldn’t be a C&I Movie Awards celebration if C&I readers didn’t have the final word in the selection process.
So we’re asking you to cast your vote for your favorite in each category.
The deadline for submitting your picks will be Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Winners will be announced Friday, Feb. 17.
