The country newcomer releases an acoustic video of her latest single.
When Virginia-born country music up-and-comer Makenzie Phipps said she had something special to share with us, we couldn’t wait to share it with you.
“I can’t thank Cowboys & Indians enough for the premiere of my acoustic video for my newly released single ‘Drag,” Phipps said. “Releasing this single has been a thrilling rollercoaster ride that has been a blast! I’m so excited for them to share it with y’all.”
The song is a sassy number that recalls the droll observation credited to Oscar Wilde: “The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself, with desire for what its monstrous laws have made monstrous and unlawful.”
As Phipps told People Magazine: “Temptation is just something everyone deals with now and then. ‘Drag’ refers to that something that you’ve been wanting to do for a while or something that you know you shouldn't do, but you're just like, ‘I just got to try it for the first time and see what happens.’”
But don’t misunderstand: Phipps isn’t about to start hoovering down cancer-sticks anytime soon. “No, I have never smoked,” she told People. “I don't think I'll ever do that. My lungs are very important to me.”
