For National Dog Adoption Month, we’re premiering Presley & Taylor’s wonderful video for the poignant song “Choose Me,” on behalf of our best furry friends.
When we published the editors note in our October issue, we didn’t even realize that October was National Dog Adoption Month. By serendipity, editorial director Hunter Hauk had decided to write about the joys of adopting dogs because a new one had come into my life.
As Ella was being welcomed into his home and nursed back to health in Texas, Presley & Taylor were in Nashville kicking off Dog Adoption Month by working on a video for their touching single “Choose Me.” We’re pleased to premiere it here.
The sister duo first recorded the pet-loving track a couple of years ago and had hung onto it for just the right time. After seeing news stories about dog and cat rescues from a Baton Rouge shelter in the path of Hurricane Ida, they knew it was the right time.
Presley & Taylor asked their record label, White Mustang Records, to time the release of “Choose Me” to October’s Dog Adoption Month.
“We’ve been hanging on to ‘Choose Me,’ because we just loved the song,” Presley & Taylor said jointly. “Pet adoption is very close to our hearts, and seeing the news story really struck a chord with us. We hope this song spurs people to adopt a pet from a local shelter and give a dog or cat the love it deserves.”
We hope so, too! If you’re like all of us animal lovers at C&I, you’ll love the song and the video, which features Presley & Taylor’s own rescue dog, Rocky. The cute King Charles mix was first rescued by their grandmother in Connecticut. After her passing, the gals brought Rocky to live with them in Nashville.
Coinciding with the single release, Presley & Taylor announced that proceeds from the streaming and downloads of “Choose Me” will benefit the PEDIGREE Foundation. Based in Franklin, Tennessee, the nonprofit was established by Mars Petcare, maker of PEDIGREE food for dogs, to help increase dog adoption rates and help end pet homelessness. Nearly 3.5 million dogs end up in shelters and rescues every year, and nearly half never find a home. In its mission of “working toward a day when all dogs are safe, secure, cared for, fed well and loved,” the foundation has awarded more than $9 million to U.S. shelters and rescues that help dogs in need.
