Oak & Eden Whiskey blurs the lines between tradition and innovation.
For those not familiar with how whiskey is made, here’s a basic breakdown of how it works. A grain (corn, rye, barley, or wheat) is crushed, heated, and distilled. The outcome of this process produces a clear, virtually flavorless spirit called “white dog.” This spirit then moves to an oak barrel where it will begin its aging process, adopting 100% of its color and between 60%—80% of its flavor profile. It’s fair to say that the experience of whiskey has more to do with wood than it does the spirit. With hundreds of botanicals and countless flavor and texture characteristics inside any given species of wood, it is responsible for most of the flavor and all of the color in any whiskey.
Most distillers will move their fully aged whiskey straight to a bottle, ready for sale. Some distillers will move the whiskey from its original aging barrel into a secondary “finishing” barrel made from a different wood species than the aging barrel, or to a barrel that had previously aged another spirit. This finishing process creates a much richer, smoother, more desired profile due to the new impartation of wood and infusion.
Enter Oak & Eden Whiskey.
