Celebrate America or summer with these cocktails from Amendment 21.
Amendment 21 in Abilene, Texas, celebrates its constitutional namesake and the repeal of prohibition by focusing on what is arguably America’s favorite spirit, whiskey. These Amendment 21 cocktails, only one of which is actually whiskey-based, are ideal for celebrating our country on Independence Day or toasting summer.
Raspberry Whiskey Sour
6 raspberries, plus more for garnish
1 ounce lemon juice
1 ounce simple syrup
2 ounces Buffalo Trace whiskey
1 egg white
Angostura bitters, for garnish
In a cocktail shaker, muddle raspberries with lemon juice and simple syrup. Add whiskey and egg white. Dry shake for 30 seconds. Add ice and shake another 30 seconds. Double strain into coupé glass. Garnish with Angostura bitters and a raspberry.
Weekend Vibes
2 ounces Wheatley Vodka (or preferred vodka)
½ ounce Campari
½ ounce lemon juice
1 ounce simple syrup
Prosecco
Lemon wheel and edible flowers, for garnish (optional)
Add Wheatley’s, Campari, lemon juice, and simple syrup to shaker filled with ice and shake for 20 seconds. Double strain into coupe glass. Top with prosecco. Garnish with lemon wheel and flower.
