Nashville artist Dustin Collins debuts the music video for his rendition of “Hillbilly Shoes,” exclusively with C&I.
Raised by his musician parents in Bardstown, Kentucky, up-and-coming country singer Dustin Collins has been around music his whole life. With years of exposure and experience under his belt, he’s taken his talent to a new level with his recently released sophomore album, It’s Been Awhile.
One of Collins’ musical highlights include his rendition of the classic tune “Hillbilly Shoes.”
Written by Bobby Taylor, Mike Geiger, and Woody Mullins, the song was first made famous by American country music duo Montgomery Gentry on their debut album, Tattoos & Scars. Their high-octane version is down-home and raucous, filled with fierce fiddling, infectious guitar, and cheeky lyrics.
“Being from Kentucky, I looked up to Eddie and Troy my whole life, and in my opinion, ‘Hillbilly Shoes’ is one of the most iconic country songs of my lifetime,” Collins says.
In his new music video, Collins’ dismantles the toe-tapping number to its acoustic roots for an impressive and captivating performance with only the track’s signature guitar pickings and memorable storytelling “walk a mile in my hillbilly shoes” lyrics. The performance captures Collins’ charisma and his way with pure country twang.
