The new trailer sparks interest, but keeps secrets.
We might as well just come right out and admit it: We really don’t know much about what lies ahead in Westworld, the purposefully puzzling sci-fi drama that will return April 22 for a second season on HBO. And the new trailer that HBO released Thursday isn’t exactly what you’d call enlightening.
It appears that Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood), the formerly complacent android “host,” is getting ready to deliver a serious smackdown on person or persons unknown. (“Did you ever stop to wonder about your actions? The price you’d pay if there was a reckoning? That reckoning is here.”) And it seems safe to say that The Man in Black (Ed Harris, pictured above) aims to deliver his own brand of rough justice. (“I’m going to burn this whole thing to the ground.” And, as we were led to suspect at the end of Season One, viewers will finally get a look at another high-tech amusement park for adventure-seekers: Shogun World.
But we’re not quite ready to take a cue from Joanne Robinson of Vanity Fair and wildly speculate about what the HBO trailer may (or may not) portend. Instead, we invite you to take a look for yourself — and draw your own conclusions.
