Pierce Brosnan stars in the multi-generational drama based on Philipp Meyer’s novel.
The wait is over: The Son, the ambitious new series based on Philipp Meyer’s best-selling novel, debuts with two back-to-back episodes starting at 9 p.m. ET Saturday on AMC.
During the 10 episodes of the weekly drama’s premiere season, The Son will progress on two parallel narrative tracks: one charting the evolution of young Eli McCullogh (played by Jacob Lofland, late of Maze Runner: Scorch Trials and TV’s Justified) from callow innocent to hardened warrior after he is abducted by Comanches; the other detailing the single-minded struggle of the older Eli — played by international film star and former 007 Pierce Brosnan — to maintain his Texas oil and cattle empire by any means necessary during the turbulent era of the Mexican Revolution and the Bandit Wars of Texas.
In this exclusive preview clip, Eli speaks of his quest for oil with Jeannie (Sydney Lucas), his 11-year-old granddaughter.
