Colorado should be as well-known for its craft spirits as it is the state’s craft beer culture. Laid-back operations like Breckenridge Distillery, which bills itself as the world’s highest distillery, is just one example.
Breckenridge Ol’ Fashioned
2½ ounces Breckenridge Port Cask Bourbon
½ ounce raw sugar
2 dashes barrel-aged whiskey bitters
1 Luxardo cherry, for garnish
Fresh orange zest, for garnish
Mix liquid ingredients in cocktail shaker. Shake, and pour into glass. Garnish with Luxardo cherry and fresh orange zest.
Genever Juice
1½ ounces gin
½ ounce lemon juice
¾ ounce rosemary simple syrup
1 rosemary sprig, for garnish
1 dehydrated lemon chip, for garnish (optional)
Mix liquid ingredients in cocktail shaker. Shake, and pour over ice. Garnish with rosemary and dehydrated lemon chip.
Porch Pounder
1½ ounces Breckenridge Pear vodka
1 kiwi, sliced and muddled without skin
5 ounces lemonade
Sliced kiwi, for garnish
Lemon zest, for garnish
Muddle one sliced kiwi in cocktail shaker. Add Breckenridge Pear vodka and lemonade with ice. Shake, and strain over ice.
