The Museum of Western Art will host its Artist of the Month reception on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. with impressionist painter Margie Barker. Non-museum members are invited to attend the wine and cheese reception with a suggested donation of $10; museum members, of course, attend no charge.

Margie Barker, whose work can be seen at Rivers Edge Gallery, is from Helotes and is 81 years young. Her work is based upon Texas landscapes painting in acrylic in an impressionist manner. J.R. Mooney Galleries of Boerne said, “after having two cataract surgeries in the early part of 2015, Barker’s paintings have a new sense of vitality mixed with unquestionable accuracy and detail.”
