Helldorado Days

DESCRIPTION

With its roots starting in 1934, Helldorado Days is the longest running civic event in the history of Las Vegas!

It originally was created to encourage tourism to the city upon completion of Boulder Dam. Now, with an audience of more than 15,000, Helldorado Days features a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo, a locals rodeo, a parade, carnival, Whiskerino (facial hair) contest, golf tournament, poker tournament, art show, art auction, exhibits, and food and beverages.

During the four fun-packed days, Downtown Las Vegas is transformed, absorbing several vacant downtown blocks to build a rodeo arena and carnival from the ground up. As a non-profit fundraising event, 100 percent of the profits from Helldorado Days help local children and veterans. The event always has been produced by the members of Elks Lodge No. 1468, which is part of a national organization dedicated to investing in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, by undertaking projects that address unmet need, and by honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans.

The Elks Lodge No. 1468 has donated more than more than $4 million since 1934 and earned the distinction of an “Official Event” in Nevada’s Sesquicentennial Celebration last year.  This designation was given in recognition of its long-standing community support and history, as well as its fun filled festivities that offer something for all ages and appetites.
