This summer the Northwest Rendezvous Group of Artists moves to The Brinton Museum for the very first Bighorn Rendezvous Art Show & Sale – the museum’s most anticipated event of 2016. Thirty-seven painters and sculptors plus nine special guest artists will come together for an exhibition and sale including more than 130 works of art, and to create art inspired by the Bighorn Mountains and the historic Quarter Circle A Ranch. Pieces will vary in technique and subject matter, each branching from a broad interpretation of the Western genre as well as the artist’s environs and recent travels.
Founded in 1972, the Northwest Rendezvous Group of Artists will reunite for the Bighorn Rendezvous event from Aug. 5-6, featuring an artists’ reception, al fresco brunch, auction, sale and dinner. One highlight of the weekend will be a quick draw on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 5, where artists will paint, illustrate, sketch or sculpt a piece en plein air, from start to finish, in front of a crowd of spectators. The Northwest Rendezvous Group of Artists are credited with inventing the quick draw in the 1970s — now a popular event at art venues across the country. The quick draw art will be auctioned that afternoon to benefit the artists and the group. The Brinton will exhibit Bighorn Rendezvous art for sale in the Jacomien Mars Reception Gallery and the S.K. Johnston, Jr. Family Gallery until September 5.

Mars, Jr. Building expands our ability to share art that resonates on a national level,” said Brinton executive director Ken Schuster. “The Northwest Rendezvous Group of Artists creates a body of work that expands upon the traditional Western genre, and we’re thrilled to reunite them at The Brinton for the inaugural Bighorn Rendezvous Art Show & Sale.”
Rendezvous artist Veryl Goodnight — internationally known for her bronze horse sculptures — visited The Brinton Museum. “After seeing the new building, the Brinton’s incredible collection of Western Art and the extraordinary landscape of the Bighorns, we knew this would be a winning partnership,” said Goodnight.
