Wonder Woman and Matt Houston? Certainly an intriguing duo, if not a famous one. In 1994, Lynda Carter and Lee Horsley costarred in Hawkeye, an adventure series inspired by James Fenimore Cooper’s The Leatherstocking Tales.
Carter plays Elizabeth Shields, who arrives in the Hudson Valley with her husband to open a frontier trading post. When French mercenaries capture Elizabeth’s husband, she is helped by the famed frontiersman Hawkeye (Horsley) and his Native American friend Chingachgook (Rodney A. Grant).
Stephen J. Cannell (The Rockford Files, The A-Team) produced the syndicated series shot amid the bucolic natural wonders of Vancouver, British Columbia. Hawkeye: The Complete Series contains all 22 episodes on four DVDs. For those who missed it the first time, here’s a chance to experience a hidden TV gem that deserved a better fate.
