Bead Weaver
Since receiving her first bead loom at the young age of 14, Julia Pfeifer has been passionate about beading. “The way in which they shine, their shape, beauty, and texture surprise and inspire me,” says Pfeifer of the small ornaments. In 1984 the self-taught bead weaver was introduced to micro beads, the smallest beads in the world at just larger than a grain of sugar. Working with micro beads, Pfeifer discovered she was able to weave pictorial pieces of greater complexity, color, and dimension and has been perfecting the craft for more than 20 years. Along with designing and beading custom jewelry, clothing, Native American ceremonial prayer fans, and belts, she has become popularly known for her beaded cowboy boots, like the award-winning Lizard Boots (shown), which were recently featured in The Cowboy Boot Book.
