No corporate trappings with Katherin Stern's Corpirate artwork

Stern designs everything from hand-sewn clothing to hand-painted, hand-hammered tin art at her New Mexico-based business Corpirate.

Artist Katherine Stern designs everything from hand-sewn clothing to hand-painted, hand-hammered tin art at her New Mexico-based business Corpirate. The tongue-in-cheek company name is one Stern came up with after leaving the 9-to-5 world for an artist career she calls "a little less corporate and a little more Corpirate."

Stern "works in whatever medium fits the mood," pulling influences from country western, rock 'n' roll, and Latin American folk art. This unique combination is reflected in Stern's work, including her hammered-tin wall art, jewelry, and belt buckles and custom cowboy boots, vintage pearl-snap Western shirts, and hand-painted silver plates.

Some of her more popular artwork includes a set of four hand-hammered guitars, each one representing one of her favorite country legends. Artwork from each of the four guitars is also portrayed in a collection of T-shirts, as well as prints, which have been released in a limited-edition series of 250.
