Matching skull-themed boots and electric guitar

Liberty Boots and Shyboy Guitars are a marriage made on the rock 'n roll stage — and their raucous offspring is a limited-edition 62 Muertos guitar.

Liberty Boots and Shyboy Guitars are a marriage made on the rock 'n roll stage — and their raucous offspring is a limited-edition 62 Muertos guitar.

Based on the classic Liberty Boot design, which features a series of intertwined skulls, the guitar tops are hand-tooled and hand-painted by Liberty's experienced boot-making team, then laminated onto the lightweight swamp ash bodies crafted by Shyboy Guitars. Like the boots, the guitars are bound in red, evoking the blood of the dead. The 62 Muertos design is the first in a planned series of Liberty/Shyboy guitars.

"We started with the 62 Muertos because it's one of our most popular boot designs," says Liberty Boots' founding owner and designer Tony Benattar. "Lots of touring and recording musicians wear this style."

The rockin' boot maker found a natural fit with Shyboy, whose handmade guitars from licensed Fender parts are used by musicians all over the world, including Wilco's Pat Sansone and Blue Rodeo's Glenn Milchem.

Only 13 guitars with the 62 Muertos design will be produced.
