Navajo Silver
J. Alexander applies 18th-century stamping technique to decorative items
Eighteenth-century Navajo silversmiths adapted leather-stamping tools in order to add decorative designs to their jewelry. As their first method of adorning silver, stamping became a signature of Navajo jewelers. Out of reverence for this tradition, J. Alexander Rustic Silver has applied silver stamping to home accents, introducing a collection of small décor items — such as picture frames, jewelry boxes, wine coasters, matchbox covers, canisters, serving trays, napkin rings, and candleholders — reminiscent of early Navajo stamp work. Each piece is handcrafted from German silver with a vintage finish and inset with black onyx, coral, or turquoise. This 5-by-7-inch picture frame is the perfect size for decorating a nightstand or coffee table (from $59). 866.212.7123, www.jalexanderrusticsilver.com
