Artist Paul Pearman offers whimsical custom belt buckles
Paul Pearman holds the 1989 Guinness World Record for the longest skateboard jump (over 26 barrels). He is a national champion amateur kickboxer and a third-degree black belt in karate. Having always been an athlete, Pearman is also an artist — with just as much success. He began dabbling in oil painting before deciding to hone his skills in mosaic art, which explains why at first glance his micromosaics might be mistaken for impressionist paintings, the perfectly pieced shards resembling brush strokes. Using a mixture of glass, recycled materials, gemstones, and fossils, Pearman creates everything from tiles to residential installations. But the acclaimed mosaic artist is best known for his custom buckles in whimsical, one-of-a-kind designs like My Girl, a hand-forged butterfly inset with turquoise, seed pearls, fossilized nautilus shells, and vintage earrings ($1,950). 706.667.9535, www.mosaicbuckles.com
