A Piece of Wyoming
C&I's Poem of the Week for 2/15/2012
Come my son, come ride with me
Saddle up and feel what it means to be free
Through meadows of sage, through aspen, through pine
Come taste with me "Once upon a time"
Come ride with me, to yesteryear
When a man's word was good, and when God was feared
When you did what was right, just because
And sacred still were values, like honor, truth, and love
My son, as you grow, some folks will try
To steer you off this road we ride
And when they do, I hope you'll say
Sorry, but I go my Father's way
For one day soon, there will come a time
Where the job of trail boss won't be mine
You'll have the reins, it will be up to you
To lead your family on the road that is true
But today my son, today let's ride
Through valleys low and through mountains high
Through God's great and glorious land
For there is a piece of Wyoming in every man
