Campfire Songs
C&I's Poem of the Week for 5/9/2012
My dad was a campfire singer
He loved those campfire songs
He must have known a million
Folks loved to sing along
He’d sing songs that told a story
Then some of sweet, sweet, love
There was a Ragtime Cowboy
And the glory of above
He could sing them into laughter
Or nodding yeah, I’ve been there too
They’d join him in the chorus
Campfire songs ring true
Even now I hear him strumming
When the campfire burns
In the wind I hear him humming
As the memories return
Hear the campfire serenader
Hear his guitar ring
Feel the glow of more than embers
How I loved to hear him sing
